Kerry is an experienced journalist, media and communications consultant who has worked with Channel 7, WIN TV, ABC, Imparja TV and the National Indigenous Radio Service (NIRS).


Kerry is from the Koko Lama Lama and Kuku Yalangi nations of Far North Queensland and now resides in Brisbane where she owns and operates Kinnected consultancy. Kinnected draws upon a powerful strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Kinnected develops communication strategies that reflect and respect this connection in every process. With an extensive list of personal and professional connections across the country, Kinnected is comfortable working on projects of any size, involving media promotion and monitoring; social marketing and research; multi-media production; branding; event management and qualitative and quantitative evaluation.
A key element to Kinnected philosophy is to develop communication solutions that are sustainable and multi-layered to empower clients and communities to build on and enhance with their own individual strategies.



Kerry has developed and implemented a range of campaigns including the “Strong Community Life” project which involved visiting 18 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queensland communities to conduct social marketing research. The research investigated the most effective methods and messages to communicating with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander audiences about the responsible sale, service and consumption of alcohol.



The strategy included a series of locally produced radio programs, billboards, community launches and concerts.



Most recently, Kerry was involved in three major reviews for the Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts which involved consulting with Indigenous media organisations from across the country. Kerry was recently consulted by Queensland Health to provide advice on its radio strategy for the Swine Flu campaign targeting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander audiences.



Kerry is a board member of the Stronger Smarter Institute and a member of the sub-committee of the Foundation for Public Interest Journalism.
